I stay in a fight not to win, but to be heard. That makes it difficult to turn my back and walk away. You don’t have to agree with me, but I deserve a space to be heard. Women easily understand the difference, and those men in their lives….they get it, too.

Good point and thank you for sharing this Maureen. You’re right, wanting to be heard isn't the same as wanting to win, and that difference is something many people know deep down, even if it's not always easy to put into words.

In an ideal world yes. But sometimes there is no winning - because the other person has closed ears. It is pointless.

David Nam's avatar

Yeah thats a tough one. As you mentioned, I think sometimes the healthiest choice is accepting that not everyone is willing to listen, even when you've done your best to be heard.^^

I hope I remember this when I rescue my next cat -- after my Siberian Husky is VERY old and dies, that is :-) Ma-AH ! Who knew?

David Nam's avatar

"Ma-AH!" gets me every time. I hope your Husky has a long, happy life, and when the day finally comes to welcome another cat, I hope you find one that surprises you in the best way.^_^

I'll have to try 'Ma ah' on my cat to see if he comes lol... if I'm lucky, he will lift his head and then put it back down...

Oh David, what you are speaking about here is so pivotal for raising our hearts to the next level of understanding how the cell dynamics within us change when we are present to this truth.

Each step brings us closer to who we truly are ~ Hope, Peace, Joy and Love.

These few words and adorable videos intertwine with each other to give new perspectives a gentle opener to this. Thank you.🐈

Thank you so much for your kind words Terry! I love the reminder that small moments of presence can gently open our hearts to more hope, peace, joy, and love and I'm so glad the videos resonated!^_^

I’ve a friend that states that she “doesn’t understand“ what I have expounded on. I’ve been thinking of using the phrase “what don’t you understand? “. Then the ball is in her court to explain what she doesn’t understand or will I be raising the ante(?). I think it’s her way of exiting a conversation because she does this every so often to make other people feel uncomfortable. She’s also a sensitive and generous person to a fault. I don’t get it Hmmmm.

David Nam's avatar

It can be hard to know whether someone truly wants more explanation or is looking for a way to end the conversation. Umm….I think asking, “What part doesn’t make sense?” in a calm and curious way can invite a real discussion, while also giving you a better sense of what they need.^_^

Never thought about what you alluded to. Perhaps she needs to be ahead of the curve and truly doesn’t know or have an opinion while using the phrase “I don’t understand” to cover her lack of knowledge as she prides herself on being in control permanently. However, I will take your suggestion and use it the next time she and I are together.

You're a good friend Vivian!^_^

Wisdom is giving up the need to be right. The Dallai Llama says (paraphrased) "You have two ears and one mouth. You need to listen more than speak. I know everything I'm going to say already - but if I want to learn something new I need to listen".

Love this, thank you! I’m getting better with the listening and the need to be right parts. I’m still a work in progress however. Thanks again Try to be kind!^_^
